A chain-reaction motorcycle crash leaves 6 people injured during the Helping Heroes Freedom Ride

A charity motorcycle ride in Indiana was abruptly halted when a car cut between riders, triggering a chain-reaction crash that injured six people. The accident occurred during the annual Helping Heroes Freedom Ride 465, which takes place on Interstate 465 around Indianapolis.

The ride, organized to support hospitalized veterans and their families by providing basic needs and direct funding during deployment, was disrupted around 2:11 p.m. on Saturday. Indiana State Police received multiple reports of downed motorcycles on westbound Interstate 70, just west of downtown Indianapolis.

Trooper Dan Magnabosco, who arrived on the scene, found two individuals with severe injuries. One person was bleeding heavily from the arm, and Magnabosco applied a tourniquet to stop the bleeding, while another was unconscious but breathing. He, along with bystanders, provided first aid until the Indianapolis Fire Department arrived. Six people were transported to local hospitals—two with serious injuries and four with non-life-threatening injuries.

The crash occurred when a white passenger vehicle cut in between the motorcyclists. One rider tried to avoid the car, resulting in a collision with another motorcycle. Two additional riders laid down their bikes to avoid the crash. The collisions involved single and multiple motorcycles. The white car fled the scene, and police are seeking witnesses. Anyone with information is urged to contact Indiana State Police at 317-899-8577.
